The Position:

The PAPA director position is a highly visible role responsible for overseeing, developing, and implementing affiliate-wide market and patient access strategies. The position holder will manage the structure, capacity, and tools for pricing and market patient access, leading and developing the organizational capabilities within the affiliate. The successful candidate will be instrumental in formulating affiliate pricing strategies and managing the pricing corridor for the Novo Nordisk portfolio in close liaison with the Business Area (BA) and International Operations (IO). Additionally, they will play a pivotal role in developing evidence and relevant Market/Patient Access arguments to provide recommendations to senior management for optimizing market access and shaping the local healthcare environment. This position is a key member of the Iran management team and reports to the general manager.

Key Responsibilities:

This role may involve travel based on business needs. Although the candidate's location will be in Tehran, we are also open to considering candidates located in nearby provinces.

Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop a long-term market and patient access strategic plan aligning functional objectives with Global/Regional/BA strategies.
  • Integrate pricing and access strategy coherently for the affiliate, plan and manage resources and skills within the function to meet short, mid, and long-term needs.
  • Communicate the shared vision and business priorities for the pricing, market, and patient access functional area, and manage the teams to ensure a conducive environment for high performance and proper development.
  • Lead the functional team, provide guidance and direction to affiliate M/PA function, and represent their goals and expectations to BA/IO.
  • Serve as a local ambassador for business ethics within the affiliate and ensure full compliance with all Business Ethics Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Public Affairs:

  • Partnership with external stakeholders in the governmental sector, the Danish embassy, and initiating projects such as sustainability projects, educational programs, general practitioner educational program
  • Initiating Issue Management Plan (IMP) and close collaboration with the communication manager for external communication and media coverage for events or monitoring news in the media for reflecting in IMP and designing the mitigation actions and relevant key messages.
  • Affiliate stakeholder mapping and engagement plan, annual update of this document as a consolidated document for the whole affiliate
  • Member of the Affiliate Management Team
  • Lead collaboration efforts to align and manage affiliate market, patient access priorities, and strategies with critical business functions (e.g. marketing, clinical, medical, and regulatory).
  • Ownership and management of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) pricing and market/patient access items.
  • Identify and act upon short- and mid-term business opportunities at a functional and cross-functional level to exceed budget expectations/business targets, exhausting the exploration of planned activity.
  • Integrate market/patient access insights into affiliate, BA, IO, and Global business processes (affiliate market plan, cultivation pilot plans, advisory board, and others) to reflect short, mid, and long-term context and achieve functional linkage to maximize business impact.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree, preferably within a quantitative/management discipline, from a reputable university.
  • At least 5 to 10 years of senior/executive management experience in the pharma industry, with direct experience in at least two areas such as pricing, health economics, or market/patient access.
  • Strong people management skills, including experience managing large and diverse teams, and the proven ability to build relationships with healthcare decision-makers to deliver business objectives.
  • Exposure to areas like advocacy development, payer engagement, or government affairs, with experience in articulating complex issues to key decision-makers.
  • Possession of strategic thinking and tactical plan implementation skills to succeed in this role.
