Job Description

City of work: Tehran Province, Tehran Iran;
Starting Date: 01.05.2025;
Contract: PART-TIME with the first contract of 3 months.

Main Purpose of the Job:

Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow-up before, during, and after delivery, according to MSF obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, and universal hygienic and newborn caring standards to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, obstetrical care, neonatal and management of victims of sexual violence.
  • Assessing the feasibility of referral of pregnant women to the referral hospitals for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries.
  • Guaranteeing a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
  • Properly following up on all newborn babies during PNC, informing mothers and relatives about the importance of breastfeeding, vaccination, and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.
  • Ensuring patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality is respected.
  • Attend to obstetric emergencies and facilitate referrals.
  • Assess the full range of care needs for pregnancy and childbirth; plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a full program of care for the mother and baby, through the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal period such as Performing lab tests like U/A and pregnancy tests.
  • Check and update vaccinations, Tetanus and Hepatitis B, for pregnant patients.
  • Refer newborns to MOH for vaccination.
  • Perform ultrasonography during ANC for pregnant women.
  • Gynecology examination and management of sexually transmitted diseases, and urinary tract infections in collaboration with doctors.
  • Attend the medical meeting and monthly related meetings and present cases based on the needs of patients.
  • Fill the daily data sheets carefully based on the data management system.
  • Prepare the monthly sitrep and reports and analyze the data.
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development through a portfolio and be prepared to undertake further training by the needs of the post and service developments.
  • Attend the mobile clinic, visit patients, take a history, examination, lab tests, ultra-sonography, ANC, PNC, etc, and fill the daily data reports.
  • Accompany the outreach team in the neighborhood.
  • Provides a full range of education, short training, advice, and counseling to women and their partners including discussions about service choices and care options.
  • Present training to the team. 
  • Prepare pamphlets and posters.
  • Conduct phone follow-ups and home visits with the collaboration of the patient support team.

Specific Requirements for the Role:

  • Education Essential midwifery qualification or specialization; desired bachelor's degree in Midwifery.
  • Essential computer literacy (Word, and Excel).
  • Experience Essential working experience of at least two years in midwife activities-related jobs.
  • Languages Essential: mission language; local working language would be an asset.
