Architect

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and detailed architect to join our team specializing in building facades. The ideal candidate must be proficient in AutoCAD and Excel and be responsible for performing quantitative drawings of plans and elevations, progressing to assist in estimating the project. This role bridges technical drafting with analytical estimating duties, making it a dynamic and critical position on our team.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and Detailing:

• Use AutoCAD to prepare detailed 2D drawings of doors and windows, including cladding, glazing, and framing.
• Prepare shop drawings, assembly details, and installation diagrams. Create based on architectural drawings.
• Ensure all drawings are accurate, clear, and conform to project specifications and industry standards.

Number of Take-Offs:

• Analyze architectural drawings and elevations to identify all facade elements.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for materials.
• Systematically organize and document quantity data in Excel for reference and easy reporting.

Estimating Support:

• Assist in the development of material and labor cost estimates based on take-off quantities.
• Research material costs, labor rates, and equipment requirements to support accurate budgeting.
• Collaborate with the estimation team to integrate take-off data into proposed designs.

Coordination and Collaboration:

• Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure alignment of drawings and calculations with project requirements.
• Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to confirm material specifications and costs.
• Quickly revise drawings and quantities to reflect design changes or feedback.

Management and Reporting:

• Maintain organized records of drawings, quantity takeoffs, and estimate data.
• Prepare reports that summarize quantities and costs for internal and customer use.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of drafting and estimating processes.

Requirements:

• A degree in Architectural Technology, or a related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Excel.
• At least 2 years of experience in drafting or quantitative elevations, preferably in building facades or construction.
• Strong understanding of facade systems, materials, and construction processes.
• Ability to interpret and analyze architectural drawings with accuracy.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
