Senior Operations Geologist

Job Description

To provide critical geological support and assurance for the drilling operations. Responsible for all aspects of wellsite geology, pore pressure prediction, geosteering, and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of drilling programs. This role is essential for maximizing wellbore placement, mitigating geological risks, and achieving key exploration and development objectives.

•Well Planning & Pre-Work:
-Integrate seismic, offset well, and geological data to develop robust pore pressure and fracture gradient (PPFG) models (Optional).
-Contribute to well design, casing point selection, and mud weight planning.
-Prepare detailed Formation Evaluation Plans (FE) and Wellbore Prognosis documents.
-Specify and evaluate logging-while-drilling (LWD), measurement-while-drilling (MWD), Wireline and mudlogging requirements.

•Real-Time Operations Support:
-Provide 24/7 remote or on-site geological support for drilling operations.
-Monitor and interpret real-time LWD and WL data, cuttings descriptions, and gas data.
-Perform detailed formation evaluation and pore pressure monitoring to ensure wellbore stability.
-Make critical, timely recommendations to the Drilling team regarding coring points, casing points, and TD decisions.

•Geosteering (Optional):
-Lead geosteering operations for horizontal and complex wells to maximize reservoir contact.
-Update geological models in real-time and collaborate with reservoir engineers to optimize well placement.

•Wellsite Geology Supervision:
-Manage and mentor Wellsite Geologists and G&G contractors.
-Ensure the highest standards of data acquisition (coring, sidewall coring, wireline logging) and quality control.

•Reporting & Documentation:
-Prepare Daily and Final Geological Reports and post-well analysis, capturing lessons learned.
-Maintain accurate records of all geological operations and data.
-Report and communicate interpreted data to Geosciences and Drilling groups

•HSE & Compliance:
-Following all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
-Ensure all geological operations are conducted in a safe and compliant manner.
