Cosar Pharmaceutical Company was founded under the name Chemico Pharmaceuticals in 1974, manufacturing various oral antibiotics of penicillin family, under license from the Beecham Pharmaceutical Company. The name of the company was later changed to Cosar Pharmaceutical Company and is presently amongst the top 5 antibiotic manufacturers in Iran. The current companys productions include oral cephalosporin and penicillin. Cosar Pharmaceutical Company is a member of Amin-Cosar Investment Group which also includes its two sister companies: Amin (pharmaceutical company) and Mactuf (distribution company). The Investment group allows employees to not only move around within the company but also across the holding for better job opportunities.
